NEBDN - National Diploma in Dental Nursing 18+
Prepare Yourself For A Rewarding Career In Dental Nursing With A NEBDN Diploma
A career in dental nursing is a great choice for those looking to do something rewarding; and this coupled with a good salary, standard sociable working hours, and the chance for continued development, means that it's one of the most attractive, caring professions available. Our NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing gives you everything you need to gain a nationally recognised qualification which provides the foundations needed to be able to practice as a fully fledged dental nurse.
The course covers all outcomes as described in the 'preparing to practice' document, outlined by the General Dental Council (GDC) and gives students the practical and theoretical grounding they'll need to become GDC-registered dental nurses. This includes:
A sound knowledge of their working environment
Proper patient care
Supporting chair-side procedures
So who is the course for?
The NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing is available to anyone aged 18 or over who is considering a career as a dental nurse. No formal qualifications are necessary as teaching is carried out primarily in the dental practice, with a mix of classroom sessions. This way students will have a good working knowledge of both the theoretical and practical side of the dental nursing industry.
Students will need to secure a working placement at a dental practice prior to the commencement of the course. Placement can either be done via your own efforts or through our Dental Nursing Academy recruitment team. We're fortunate enough to have our very own team who have already found placements and subsequently jobs for 100's of trainee dental nurses, and we can help you too.
So how does the course work?
The National Examination Board of Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Diploma in Dental Nursing is a 12-18 month course designed to provide both practical and written assessments. The theory aspect is provided by the Dental Nursing Academy where we have over 25 years of experience working and teaching in the dental industry, while the practical side is carried out in situ at the dental practice by fully qualified mentors.
Training covers a series of modules or units and works towards a 'record of experience' log. This is a mandatory requirement that must be signed off as complete before students can sit either of 2 exams. The first is a theory exam held at the centre by the NEBDN and the second type of exam is known as an OSCE or Objective Structured Clinical Examination. Students have to pass the theory exam before they can go on to do the OSCE and exams are sat twice a year- once in April and again in November.
Upon successful completion of the course, students can register with the GDC as bone fide dental care professionals (DCP's) and embark on their career as a qualified dental nurse.
Securing your future
The NEBDN Diploma in Dental Nursing is a nationally recognised qualification. This means that it can be used as a foundation to further professional training, either at higher diploma or degree level. As a result candidates can move on to specialise in roles such as:
Practice Managers and...
Assessors or Trainers
In doing so, such roles can command greater pay and in some cases qualified individuals can be expected to earn around £27,000 - £28,000.
So why choose the Dental Nursing Academy?
Our foundation teaching courses have been designed by a team of highly skilled dental nurses, dentists, dental hygienists, and orthodontic therapists who have over 25 years of experience in the industry. We keep up to date with what's going on in the dental industry to ensure that candidates receive only the most current training. We pride ourselves on our mentoring and support system and this is reflected in our high pass rates in excess of 90%. This was surpassed in Jan 2017 when we managed a 100% pass rate for students taking the OSCE practical examination. The Dental Nursing Academy offers affordable and flexible payment plans so you can concentrate on your study rather than have to worry about your bank balance, and our in-house recruitment team can help you to find a placement or job after qualifying.
We don't just teach - We assist, support, and help you to find your way in your chosen career.
