Note: Candidates must be working in a practice that offers orthodontic treatments and must have the full support of their employer to complete the clinical components of the course.
Course Structure
The course is delivered across eight comprehensive modules, supported by:
- Written course content
- Access to scheduled 1:1 tutorials with your course tutor (on request)
- A workplace-based learning approach, allowing you to apply knowledge directly to
your practice
Assessment Breakdown
To achieve the certificate, learners must complete all three assessment components:
- Workplace Portfolio of Evidence – 50%
Demonstrate your practical involvement in different stages of orthodontic care
through real patient cases. - Case Study – 20%
Submit a detailed case study reflecting your knowledge and application of orthodontic
nursing practice. - Final Exam – 30%
A 60-minute written examination covering all key subjects studied throughout the
course.
✅ A pass is required in all components to be awarded the certificate.
Resit and Extension Policy
- Candidates are entitled to two attempts at the final examination.

Practical Skills Component
As part of the course, learners must demonstrate:
- Taking dental impressions and/or intraoral digital scans
- Capturing orthodontic photography These are essential skills required for assisting in modern orthodontic care.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Level 3 Certificate in Orthodontic Nursing Practice, awarded by Delta Awards – a recognised qualification that enhances your clinical scope and employability in specialist practices.
